Day 7 Yosemite to Sequoia National Park

we drove from Yosemite to Sequoia National Park down along the west side of the Sierra Nevada and stayed in a log cabin in the Park. Bears are even more prevalent in Sequoia and there are warning signs to store food in cabins and bear proof boxes everywhere.

as well as incredible views of mountains and forests - there are meadows of grasses.

giant sequoias are a redwood evergreen and the five largest trees on earth are found in sequoia. they are indescribably huge. These trees age upto 3000 years old.
sequoias need fire as well as the usual  to grow..........

sequoias can live for over 2000 years. fire is vital to reproduction clearing competing firs tree varieties and sterilising the ground and stimulating seed cones to open.
